July 11 - The Skies open up

Of or pertaining to marriage, or the marriage state; conjugal; nuptial.
Today was a car-less day. I had to take the Matrix in to the Toyota dealership to address a couple of minor problems that we could live with but may become bigger issues. It was not finished until 5:00 so we were left with our bikes for transportation. I think the service manager got a kick out of the fact that I drove in with a bike on the roof and then took the bike down, handed him the car keys and rode away. Given that our mobility was limited we planned to be a little more domestic today. Our original plan was to take this opportunity to go for a salutary bike ride. That is, until Chantal went for a speed-walk with Shannon and the girls. It was another beautiful hot, sunny day and Chantal nearly died of heat exhaustion. So instead the boys and I checked our email and updated our blogs that morning using John’s wireless internet connection. Then we spent the afternoon at the neighbourhood pool. I love the neighbourhood pool concept. Why doesn’t every neighbourhood have a neighbourhood pool. It is such a great idea. A good time was had by all playing in, and laying by, the pool for the afternoon.
That evening the plan was to watch “The Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King” on John’s
big screen. We had seen the first two “Rings” movies but not the third of the trilogy. Everything was going well until Shannon informed us that it was raining heavily outside and that the ceiling vent was open in the MoHo. I ran out like a shot to close the vent. The rain was coming down as heavily as I have ever seen. Fortunately not too much water had come in so I quickly dried things up and went back in to continue watching the movie. There was only one problem, and it should have been pretty obvious. I didn’t check to make sure the windows were closed! I was so focused on getting the vent closed that I wasn’t thinking about the windows. And since all the blinds were closed, when I got in, I did not notice that any windows were open. Well, you can imagine the wet mess that greeted us after the movie, And you can also imagine how pleased Chantal was with me. Note to self: Never, I mean, always close the windows if you are leaving the MoHo for an extended period … now matter how hot is it!
