Today was our “get the chores done” day. Over the last couple of weeks we have been putting off buying a number of things just because we were too busy so we decided to try to pick up

these things during our stay in KC. Did I mention how BIG some of the stores are here in the US? Take a look for yourself at the photo with "Vanna" showing off the seemingly endless line of checkout counters. The big item we needed was another laptop. The old laptop I brought along died. It was primarily for the kids to use. They had been using my laptop instead and that was becoming increasingly bothersome since I cannot use it when they are. So every time we found some wireless access, it would take twice as long to get all our email and blog updating done because we had to do it serially. Now, at least I will be able to do things in parallel with the kids so by the time I am finished, they should be done as well. Plus, I don’t have to deal with having whatever is on their hands ending up all over my keyboard. All I was looking for was the cheapest laptop available that had wireless capabilities. I thought I’d have to settle for a lesser known name but at the third electronics store we went to, CompUSA, we found a Toshiba for $400! OK, $400 US. OK, $400 after the mail-in rebate … but that was still cheaper than the Acers and WinBooks we had seen at the other stores. The kids are ecstatic and I now have my computer to myself again. Harmony reigns in the JoRo MoHo once again.

For many of you reading, I bet I know where you were 13 years ago today. You were in Aylmer , Québec … viewing our connubial ceremony! Today Chantal and I celebrated her ability to manage to put up with me for 13 years in a row! A lot has taken place since then. Some of you were not married then but are now. Some of you had fewer or no children back then. Some of you were married but aren’t anymore. And some of you are married again! Who knows what the next 13 years have in store. Chantal and I finished the day by heading out that evening for a lovely dinner-for-two on our own to celebrate our wedding anniversary thanks to John and Shannon who generously offered to take care of A-P and Morgan. We couldn’t resist swinging by the Cheese Cake Factory to indulge in some decadently rich desserts. So much so neither of us could finish ours. Ya gotta love that!
