The only thing on our agenda in Portland was a request from Morgan. He wanted to tour the Nike campus. Morgan loves Nike stuff. It turns out there isn’t really any formal tour available so we decided to do the next best thing … we took him to NikeTown which is the big Nike store in downtown Portland. It turned out to be pretty cool but not as big or

impressive as we had expected for the Nike store in Nike’s home town. But we still enjoyed it. I should also mention that there was one benefit of being close to the airport flight path. Later that day we got a chance to see about six F-18 (or maybe F-16?) jets go by. I suppose a better description would be that we “heard” these jets go by before we actually saw them. Military aircraft make a completely different sound and it is a good thing otherwise we may not have known they were going by at all. It is always impressive

to see planes like that in real life … as long as they are not coming after you! Then it was time to pack up and head out to the Oregon coast. We actually got some rain again last night which started up again as we left town. But the rain in this area is more sporactic

than what we are used to. You get a little rain and then it stops, then a little more, then a break and so on. So it did not turn out to be much of an issue as we made our way to Lincoln City. And by the time we were halfway there, the clouds had dissipated and the sun was shinning through. Now that is more like it. When we arrived we were greeted by a shimmering Pacific Ocean with waves crashing on the beach. Then we made our way to the campground which is a few miles away on

a tributary leading to the Pacific. It used to be a farm that was converted to a campground. It is kind of nice as they had included a few appertenances such as wireless internet access. Unfortunately it was not quite strong enough for me to use in the MoHo so I had to head up to the office to do my blogging. They also screened movies in the main office every Friday and they even had not one but two pianos. A-P tried them both only to find one of them laughably out of tune. On the other one he drew his usual crowd of fascinated onlookers which he loves. One other cool benefit is that they still have a few animals here and when it came to feeding time they even let the kids feed the calves. If we liked to fish, it appears that it would have been heaven as just about everyone else was there just for the fish! Fish are something to look at or eat for us do tomorrow we are heading down the coast to do a little of both if possible.
