Oct 20 – Eastward Ho! … But Where?
Oct 20, 2006
During our visits to the hot tub at our Houston
campground, we met a guy named Ray. He was a character. He told us that he was new to MoHo-ing and he loved it. He said that in his business he was used to flying everywhere so this was a very nice change. When asked, he went on to tell us he was a chef. But not just any chef. He was a chef for the rich and famous. He told us that he had gained such a reputation that the who’s who of the entertainment world specifically request his services. They would simply fly him in for the event that they wanted him to cook for. He said that he had recently flown in to cook for Oprah and her guests. He went on to mention that he often cooked for the Bush family. Yes, you know, George W. and the rest of the gang. He said that he was very good friends with the Bush family and that it was actually one of them who had
offered him their motorhome so that he could try this out. I must admit that I was a little skeptical about his story but it was certainly fun listening to him and he had the kids were on the edge of their seats. He spoke with such confidence that it lent verisimilitude to his grandiose stylings. Then yesterday he told us that he would be cooking a dinner for George Sr. today as Condolezza Rice was going to be in Houston to meet with him. Then today I hear on the radio that Condi is in North Korea for some talks. You meet some interesting people sometimes, eh?Tried to upload some blog info this morning and the result was that I actually lost some info … ARRGG! So I called it quits as we had to bug out of the campground. We made it out of Houston with little problem and started to make our way to Louisiana. I had meant to ask y’all for advice on what we should do as we passed through the southern states on our way to Mickey’s place in Orlando, but I forgot, so that left it up to us to
decide. Chantal and I spent most of last evening trying to put together an
itinerary. We pieced together a string of locations that will hopefully entertain us on our way across the “bottom” of the country. En route today we passed “ “The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.” I am not exactly sure what it was all about but I can say this … excellent paint job! Now that is the kind of thing we should have done to the MoHo before we left on the Aylmer Express MoHo Extravaganza. Oh well, maybe next time. As we crossed into Louisiana today we stopped in at
the Tourist Info center to get their opinion on a few things. I took a little stoll around outside afterward and spotted a sign by the lake that you don’t see too often
where I come from. After our discussion with the Tour Info people, we decided to head to Lafayette today and see if we can hook up with a swamp tour tomorrow since that sounded pretty cool. So off we went to the KOA in Lafayette. Fortunately they were wired and that allowed me to fix the “disappearing entry” blog issue from this morning and then get a few more days of blogging up loaded. Nobody ever said this was going to be easy! Tune in tomorrow to see if we get up close and personal with any gators.Today’s word:
verisimilitude \ver-uh-suh-MIL-uh-tood; -tyood\, noun:
1. The appearance of truth; the quality of seeming to be true.
2. Something that has the appearance of being true or real.
